We Love Yayoi Kusama; The Polka Dot Queen #japaneseartist #infinitaobsesion #tamayomuseum

Today my post is dedicated to a spectacular Japanese artist named Yayoi Kusama. Unfortunately, I never heard about her until last week that my little cousin, Ana Maria, who lives in Mexico D.F and she is student of Art told me about this awesome exhibition of Kusama at the Tamayo Museum.
I did a little research of her work, because I love Japanese Art and  Influences, and I found out that Kusama has started to paint at age of 10 using polka dots and nets as motifs and created fantastic paintings in watercolors, pastels and oils. One thing that has captured my attention is that Kusama went to the United States in 1957 because she clearly felt that in that moment of her life, she didn't identify herself with Japan.
In America, she showed large paintings, soft sculptures, and environmental sculptures using mirrors and electric lights. In the latter 1960s, staged many happenings such as body painting festivals, fashion shows and anti-war demonstrations. And of course, when I read that she has got involved with the Fashion Industry - didn't surprise me - because her style is all about being creative, different, colorful and have a mark...In Kusama´s case are the polka dots.
So beside Kusama has opened her own fashion store, she did an incredible collaboration with Louis Vuitton creative director, back then in 2012,  Marc Jacobs on collaborative collection “LOUIS VUITTON × YAYOI KUSAMA Collection".

Hoje o meu post é dedicado a um artista espetacular japonesa chamada Yayoi Kusama. Infelizmente, eu nunca ouvi nada sobre ela até a semana passada, que a minha priminha, Ana Maria que vive na Cidade do México e é estudante de arte me falou sobre esta exposição impressionante de Kusama no Museu Tamayo.
Eu fiz uma pequena pesquisa do seu trabalho, porque eu amo a arte e as várias influências japonesas, e descobri que Kusama começou a pintar aos 10 anos de idade usando bolinhas e redes como motivos e criou pinturas fantásticas em aguarelas, pastéis e óleos. Uma coisa que me chamou à atenção é que Kusama foi para os Estados Unidos em 1957, porque ela sentiu claramente que naquele momento de sua vida, ela não se identificava com o Japão.

Nos Estados Unidos, ela mostrou grandes pinturas, esculturas moles, e esculturas ambientais, usando espelhos e luzes elétricas. Na última década de 1960, encenou muitos acontecimentos, tais como festivais de pintura corporal, desfiles e manifestações contra a guerra. E, claro, quando eu li que ela se meteu com a Indústria da Moda - não me surpreendeu - porque o seu estilo é tudo sobre ser criativo, diferente, colorido e tem uma marca ... No caso de Kusama são as bolinhas.
Assim, além de abrir a sua própria loja de moda, ela fez uma colaboração incrível com o diretor criativo da Louis Vuitton, nessa altura em 2012, Marc Jacobs na coleção colaborativa "LOUIS VUITTON × YAYOI KUSAMA Coleção".

You can see this room in her new exhibition that is passing all over Latin America. In Mexico D.F. will be until 19th of January 2015 in the Tamayo Museum.
